Après son mariage en 1889 avec Marie Stub, William Thornley s’installe à Giverny, où réside déjà sa sœur Sophie. Il habite juste à côté de Claude Monet (1840-1926) et de la famille d’ Ernest Hoschedé (1837-1891).
L’une des filles d’Ernest, Blanche, devient l’élève de Monet que William Thornley lithographie ensuite (Blanche Hoschedé au chevalet). Cette planche fait partie de la suite des 20 lithographies constituant le premier recueil de 1890 édité par Mancini et imprimé par Belfond et Cie.
After his marriage in 1889 to Marie Stub, William Thornley settled in Giverny, where his sister Sophie already resided, right next to Claude Monet (1840-1926) and the family. by Ernest Hochédé (1837-1891), one of whose daughters, Blanche, became a student of Monet. Claude Monet made a portrait of Blanche which William Thornley then lithographed (Blanche Hoschedé au easel). This plate is part of the suite of 20 lithographs constituting the first collection of 1890 published by Mancini and printed by Belfond et Cie.
