En 1900 est publié un premier recueil de 25 lithographies de camille Pissaro
Elles ont été exécutées par William Thornley pour le peintre.
Le recueil sera édité chez Héssèle en 108 exemplaires et imprimé par R. Engelmann (Atelier Belfond)
Dans l’hommage rendu à Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) par le journaliste et critique d’Art Gustave Geffroy (1855-1926), on lit ce qui suit : « Un artiste réputé pour ses résumés de transcription par la lithographie, M. Thornley, qui a déjà fait passer d’un art à un autre, les œuvres de Puvis de Chavannes, de Claude Monet, de Degas, présente aujourd’hui aux amateurs d’estampes un recueil de 25 images d’après les peintures de Camille Pissarro (…) »
In 1900 a first collection of 25 lithographs by Camille Pissaro was published. They were executed by William Thornley for the painter. The collection will be published by Héssèle in 108 copies and printed by R.Engelmann (Atelier Belfond).In the tribute paid to Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) by the journalist and art critic Gustave Geffroy (1855-1926), we read the following: “An artist renowned for his transcription summaries through lithography, Mr. Thornley, who has already taken the works of Puvis de Chavannes, Claude Monet and Degas from one art to another, today presents to print lovers a collection of 25 images based on the paintings of Camille Pissarro (…) »
