William Thornley a réalisé cette lithographie d’après un tableau, une huile sur toile de Camille Pissarro (59,7x73cm) réalisée à Eragny-sur-Epte en 1895, un jour de neige. Cette œuvre (Neige et givre à Eragny). est référencée sous le n° 1070 dans le vol III du catalogue raisonné du Wildenstein Institute -Joachim Pissarro et Claire Durand-Ruel Snollaerts, page 682.
Le tableau a été acheté à l’artiste par le Galeriste Durand-Ruel le 10 avril 1895, et acquis en 1962 par la « Fisher Foundation Collection » de Marshalltown, aux Etats-Unis, dans l’Iowa.
