L’œuvre originale qui servit de modèle à William Thornley est un pastel et gouache de 1876-1877 (Au café-concert ou la chanson du chien) aux dimensions de 57,5 x 45,4cm. Ce pastel fait aujourd’hui partie des collections de la Fondation Perenchio dont le Siège est à Pasadéna aux Etats-Unis. Le Pastel provient du collectionneur d’art et industriel français Henri Rouart (1833-1912). Il fut ensuite vendu en 1912 au Galeriste Durand-Ruel pour le compte de H. O. Havemeyer, à New York. The original work that served as a model for William Thornley is a pastel and gouache from 1876-1877 (Au café-concert ou la chanson du chien) measuring 57.5 x 45.4cm. This pastel is now part of the collections of the Perenchio Foundation, headquartered in Pasadena, United States. The Pastel comes from the French art collector and industrialist Henri Rouart (1833-1912). It was then sold in 1912 to the Galeriste Durand-Ruel on behalf of H. O. Havemeyer, in New York.
