Edmond Yon est un peintre, aquarelliste et graveur du XIXème siècle. Issu de l’Ecole de Barbizon, il transmet son savoir et son expérence de la peinture en plein air à ses élèves. William Thornley compte parmi eux.
Les œuvres de Yon sont exposées au Salon de Paris à partir de 1865 puis au Salon des Artistes Français. Il reçoit des médailles aux Salons de 1872, 1875, 1879. Il est promu chevalier de la Légion d’honneur en 1886. Il obtient une médaille d’or à l’Exposition Universelle de 1889.
Edmond Yon is a painter, watercolorist and engraver of the 19th century. Coming from the Barbizon School, he passed on his knowledge and experience of outdoor painting to his students. William Thornley was one of them.
Yon’s works were exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1865 and then at the Salon des Artistes Français. He received medals at the Salons of 1872, 1875, 1879. He was promoted to knight of the Legion of Honor in 1886. He received a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889.
