Voici une épreuve en couleur d’une lithographie réalisée par William Thornley à partir de ses propres œuvres.
Au début de sa carrière en particulier, l’artiste fit de la Hollande un terrain de prédilection, par exemple il se rendit à Rotterdam en 1884, puis 1886. Entre 1897 et 1898, il passa une année complète en Hollande. Il y revint également dans la seconde partie de sa carrière, dans les années 1920 (Dordrecht). Il eut l’occasion de peindre (ou de lithographier) de nombreux paysages dans différents villes de ce pays, parfois en compagnie de son élève, Félix Robin (Amsterdam, Douregt, Dordrecht, Rotterdam, Edam, Delft, Vollendam, Monnikedam et Katjuik).

Here is a color proof of a lithograph made by William Thornley from his own works.
At the beginning of his career in particular, the artist made Holland a favorite territory, for example he went to Rotterdam in 1884, then 1886. Between 1897 and 1898 he spent a full year in Holland. He also returned there in the second part of his career, in the 1920s (Dordrecht). He had the opportunity to paint (or lithograph) numerous landscapes in different cities of this country, sometimes in the company of his student, Félix Robin (Amsterdam, Douregt, Dordrecht, Rotterdam, Edam, Delft, Vollendam, Monnikedam and Katjuik).
