William Thornley a réalisé cette lithographie d’après un tableau « néo-impressionniste » de Camille Pissarro fait en 1883. Les dimensions de cette huile sur toile sont de 73,34 x 60 cm. Elle est référencée à la page 492 sous le n° 739 dans le vol II du catalogue raisonné du Wildenstein Institute -Joachim Pissarro et Claire Durand-Ruel Snollaerts (“Paysanne se chauffant”).
Cette œuvre a été acquise par Paul Gauguin en 1884. Elle revint ensuite dans la famille Pissarro (suite à vente ou échange). Paul Emile Pissarro en hérita en 1904. Elle fut ensuite cédée au Galeriste Paul Rosenberg (1881-1959) en 1914 puis vendue le 2 avril 1979 à un particulier resté anonyme (Sothebie’s). Une nouvelle vente eut ensuite lieu chez Christie’s le 21 juin 2005, date à laquelle le tableau devint la propriété d’une collection londonienne.
Le montant de la transaction s’éleva à 848 000 GBP (soit 1 263 520€, au cours de la Livre en juin 2005)

William Thornley made this lithograph after a “neo-impressionist” painting by Camille Pissarro made in 1883. The dimensions of this oil on canvas are 73.34 x 60 cm. It is referenced on page 492 under number 739 in volume II of the catalogue raisonné of the Wildenstein Institute -Joachim Pissarro and Claire Durand-Ruel Snollaerts (“Peasant Woman Warming Herself”).
This work was acquired by Paul Gauguin in 1884. It then returned to the Pissarro family (following a sale or exchange). Paul Emile Pissarro inherited it in 1904. It was then sold to the gallery owner Paul Rosenberg (1881-1959) in 1914 and then sold on April 2, 1979 to an anonymous individual (Sothebie’s). A new sale then took place at Christie’s on June 21, 2005, when the painting became the property of a London collection.
The transaction amounted to GBP 848,000 (equivalent to €1,263,520 at the exchange rate of the pound in June 2005).
